The 500 staff members of Almond Beach Village in St Peter have been told to report for work on Monday, as they await notice in writing from Neal & Massy of their termination.
Following a meeting yesterday with staff of the debt-ridden hotel, Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) general secretary Sir Roy Trotman said he was still to be officially informed by the Trinidadian-based conglomerate when the two would be meeting to discuss compensation for staff and other worker-related issues.
“I have advised the staff that they will most likely hear from Neal & Massy by Friday,” the union boss told the DAILY NATION yesterday.
After the conglomerate, which owns Barbados Shipping & Trading, was publicly condemned for the way it handled the Almond employees, Neal & Massy chief Gervase Warner admitted it was wrong on that count. (GE)
