CLOSE TO 15 000 people passed through Agrofest today, and long lines were still at the ticket booth late in the evening.
The annual agricultural showcase wrapped up at Queen’s Park with locals and visitors taking the opportunity to view and purchase items on sale ranging from fish and birds to fruits, vegetables, produce and a variety of bi-products from locally grown supplies.
Some of the main attractions  were in the Queen’s Park Steel Shed – which was transformed into an aviary-type setting – and in front of the pavilion, where a dog show and competition were held.
Adults and children flocked to the Steel Shed to see the different varieties and species of birds in multiple colours.
They went as close to the cages as they could and some even snapped photographs with their cameras and cellphones. Those who preferred the real stuff were seen walking away with purchases.
The show ring on the main pasture also attracted a large crowd later in the afternoon; people got a good vantage point from early to see the eight dogs compete in three events.
There were cheers, applause and some laughter and the dogs and their owners went through the course. In the end Jenni Wilson and her dog, Kai, Jean Ray with Shay and Zoe Marshall with Tilly and the Brown Team would end up in winner’s row.(YB)
