Domestic abuse legal twist

THE DAYS of underaged rape complainants and women who have alleged domestic abuse opting not to testify could soon be at an end, if Attorney-General Adriel Brathwaite gets his way.
The Attorney-General hinted at this as he spoke at the opening of the Supreme Court Complex yesterday.
Brathwaite said removing this option from those complainants was one of two areas of reform he was looking to implement in the judicial system.
“It is my desire,” he told those gathered at the ceremony, “to remove the ability of complainants in domestic abuse cases and case of rape involving minors to withdraw testimony.
