FOUR JAMAICANS, including a woman, who appeared on drug importation charges today will be required to overnight in prison before making a second court appearance tomorrow.
When she appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court, Sonia Alicia Fraser, of Flankos District, Montego Bay, St. James, Jamaica, was not required to plead to importing cannabis into the island on August 7.
She was also accused of possession, trafficking and possession of cannabis with intent to supply on the same date.
Meanwhile, Christopher Anthony Jarrett, 33, of Woodlands Red Hill, St. Andrew; Dishawn George Campbell, of Bromley Avenue, Kingston, and Cassavia Varago Walker, 36, a painter of August Town Road, Kingston, were not required to plead to importation, possession, having a traffickable quantity and possession of cannabis with intent to supply on August 3.
Prosecutor Sergeant Wendell Greenidge objected to bail for all four, saying he feared if they were granted bail, the Jamaicans would abscond.
Acting Magistrate Manila Renée remanded the accused to HMP Dodds until today when they will appear at the District “B” Boarded Hall Magistrates’ Court which sits at the Eric Holder complex, Horse Hill, St. Joseph. (HLE)
