STRESSING?that the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) was now in general election mode, Owen Arthur shook hands with rival Mia Mottley and pledged the party was a united force committed to taking this country “out of its darkest hour”.
Pledging that better could be done to rescue the country, Opposition Leader Arthur told a standing-room-only audience of BLP?faithful at the George Lamming Primary School last night that the country was awash in disorder and that “mayhem had overtaken this fair land”.
“Can better be done? Have we lost the ability to do the big things well and the small things better? Yes, we can. Yes, we will,”?Arthur screamed to the delight of party supporters, who included stalwarts Lionel Craig, DeLisle Bradshaw and new candidates Sandra Husbands, Desmond Sands and Indar Weir.
Arthur said the country was crying out for an infusion of new ideas, and was being subjected to serial blundering and leaps in the dark. (MK)
