Teachers for a day

PARENTS of the Christ Church Girls’ Primary School students received a taste of what teachers experience in the classroom.
They spent Wednesday in classrooms as the school invited them to join teachers in carrying out “a teacher’s daily activities”, inclusive of teaching and playing a supervisor’s role during lunchtime.
Parent Natasha Nash said spending the day with the Infants A class had given her a new outlook on what teachers did and experienced daily.
“Parents just drop off their child on a morning and then come back for them on evenings without any knowledge of what the teachers go through during the day. I have a newfound respect for what teachers do.
Teacher and organizer of the day’s activities, Katie Riley, said that the event, which coincided with the school’s Bringing A Family To School week of activities, was conceptualized to encourage parents to become more involved in their children’s education. (AH)
