GOVERNMENT WILL be soon rolling out a new assistance package for people seeking a university education or already enrolled at a tertiary institution.
The package will include bursaries and assistance from the Student Revolving Loan Scheme, Minister of Education Ronald Jones told the opening session of the 40th annual general conference of the Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) at Hilton Barbados on Monday evening.
He spoke against the backdrop of Barbadian students at the University of the West Indies (UWI) having to pay more for their education from September.
“Once everything is settled”, the Ministry of Education will be providing “a substantial number of bursaries so that no eligible Barbadian student will be disadvantaged” from going to university, Jones said.
