Deandra Dottin has a new role for the West Indies in the ICC Women’s World Twenty20, but the aggressive Barbadian all-rounder says it been no pressure.
The 27-year-old was asked to open the batting with her countrymate Hayley Matthews and has responded to the task by playing a few important knocks to help the defending champions come through the group stage with an unblemished record.
“To be honest, it wasn’t any pressure. I know what kind of player I am. I can go hard. I can go medium. I can knock it around. It all depends on the situation. But knowing that you have a six-over power play that you would like to capitalise,” Dottin said after her Player Of The Match performance in West Indies’ victory over England at the Daren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia on Sunday night.
“So being at the top, I think, it was a go-hard situation, but I think it’s kind of more supporting Hayley, because that’s what she’s accustomed to.” (HG)
