10-MINUTE MANAGER; Ace strategy

Q: Are you where you’ve always wanted to be?
A: Definitely. I am at that point where I am comfortable professionally and personally. To be the managing director of a company, especially a pharmacy, is one of the goals that I wanted to accomplish. Furthermore, becoming a father has been a blessing.
Q: What is your biggest professional challenge?
A: Managing the professional and human resource aspects of the company. The recruitment and selection process has been extremely difficult. In addition, the banking industry is not very receptive to entrepreneurism.
Q: What is your biggest life challenge?
A: As a new father managing a relatively new company, this can present some challenges as one tries to create the right balance between the two.
Q: When you look to the future, what do you see?
A: I have a vision for the ACE Pharmacy brand. I see ACE expanding throughout the region, thereby creating a niche market. Additionally, ensuring that our customer service is excellent and continues to excel.
Q: What is your favourite pastime?
A: Travelling, swimming, cycling and playing backgammon.
Q: What is your favourite meal?
A: Bajan chicken soup.
Q: On Saturday nights where are you likely to be?
A: Experiencing fatherhood or at home watching a movie.
Q: What upsets you the most?
A: People who waste our scarce resources such as education and health and those who deliberately litter.
Q: What is your guiding philosophy?
A: I try to do at least one good deed a day. I also treasure my friends.
Q: If you had the chance to manage Barbados for a day, what would you do?
A: I would ensure that the abuse of our health care system, especially the Barbados Drug Service, stops. Also, Barbados needs to become competitive regionally and extraregionally. To achieve this I would ensure that each citizen operates at his/her optimum, thereby increasing the national productivity.
Furthermore, I would grant concessions to companies that are export-oriented.
