Anglicans in Barbados are to review the structure of the youth ministry in the diocese and look at strengthening the ministry at Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds.
These were but two of the major considerations emerging from the three-day annual synod of the Diocese of Barbados held this past week.
A statement from Anglican Bishop, Archbishop Dr John Holder, said the synod, comprising the bishop, clergy and laity, spent a significant amount of time discussing the youth ministry and it was agreed to examine the present structure of this ministry and to address areas such as the deanery councils and chaplaincies which needed some attention.
“There was also support for a call to highlight the contribution young persons are making to the ministry in the diocese,” it added. “This, it was felt, will serve to affirm them and encourage them to do more.”
The statement noted that the Anglican Church has a long history of prison ministry and still treated it as a very important ministry. (AB)
