Brathwaite brings home gold

Barbados has finally won gold at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia.

Shane Brathwaite won the men’s 110 metres hurdles in a season’s best 13.38 seconds.

He had qualified for the event with the second fastest time of 13.53 seconds.

Ruebin Walters of Trinidad and Tobago won the silver medal in 13.57 seconds.

Cuba’s Roger Contreras, who had the fastest qualifying time of 13.52, took the bronze in 13.58.

Kierre Beckles finished eighth in the women’s 100m hurdles in 13.48 seconds as Costa Rico’s Andtea Vargas struck gold in 12.90. (SAT)
