CHRIST CHURCH FOUNDATION long and triple jumper Dominique Wood has hopped, skipped and leapt to her biggest mark in the sandpit.

Despite the premature end to the local track and field season because of the coronavirus, the 17-year-old achieved a major goal when she secured a four-year scholarship at Indiana State University in the United States.

Wood, who will major in international business, becomes the second Barbadian athlete in less than a week to sign for the institution, after Queen’s College heptathlete Kamille Gaskin-Griffith.

“I must say I’m extremely proud of what I’ve achieved so far as an athlete. Though I had my highs in the sport, I can definitely say I had my fair share of demotivation and overall adversity but I never gave up.
