In a stunning reversal last night, Minister of Transport and Works (MTW) Ian Gooding-Edghill ordered traffic to return to normal at upper Green Hill, St Michael.

Just before 8 p.m. workmen from the ministry repainted the road markings near the Eunice Gibson Polyclinic that were changed without warning on Thursday night and left motorists confused.

In response to the backlash to the change, Gooding-Edghill told the DAILY NATION neither he nor the permanent secretary was aware before the adjustments were made.

“There is a policy position within the ministry which has been established that where major works of a disruptive nature are contemplated, the permanent secretary has to be notified. The minister would then be notified by the permanent secretary and then the minister will then make a determination whether he can make the decision or if he believes the decision should be forwarded to the Cabinet.” (TG)
