Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has reminded Barbadians their country has what it takes to be world class, even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In my bosom I still believe that this country will rise to be one of the greatest that can rise as a small island nation. We will continue to speak truth to power, we will continue to provide strategic moral leadership, whether regionally or internationally, but more importantly locally in every community. It is not going to happen by accident, but with our will, our commitment and continued compassion for those who want to walk on this island,” she said yesterday.
Mottley was speaking at the Barbados Labour Party’s (BLP) special anniversary service commemorating its third year in office since the last General Elections. It was held at Bennett’s Temple United Holy Church in Pie Corner, St Lucy, on Pentecost Sunday.
The Prime Minister offered an apology for the absence of St Peter Member Colin Jordan whom she instructed to remain with the family of fallen police officer, acting Station Sergeant Newton Lewis, who was gunned down on Saturday night. (RA)
