Plantation Reserve Guava cheese

PREP TIME: 10 min

SERVES: 16

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs pink guava
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 9 oz Plantation Reserve Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Waitrose Unsalted Butter

PREPARATION STEPS

  1. To prepare this delicious recipe, begin by washing guavas. Take a deep-bottomed pan, keep it on medium flame and pour water in it. Bring it to a boil and add guava to the boiling water. Cook for at least ten minutes until guava turns mushy and tender. Mash well to form a thick pulp.
  2. Once done, remove the pan from flame and transfer the contents to a large sieve. Now pass the guava mixture through the sieve to separate the skin and seeds of the guava from the guava pulp. Keep this strained pulp aside.
  3. In a pan kept on medium flame, add the guava pulp, sugar, lemon juice and salt. Cook for 15 minutes at least until the mixture comes away from the side of the pan.
  4. Lightly butter a 9×13 pan.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the greased pan and allow to set and cut it into the desired shape.
