CHIEF TOWN PLANNER Mark Cummins has refuted suggestions that the Town Planning Department or any Government red tape could be responsible for the delay in installing lights on the Garrison Savannah for night racing.

President of the Barbados Turf Club (BTC), Sir David Seale, last week explained to the SATURDAY SUN that the Turf Club was currently undergoing a prolonged process for installation of lights on the Garrison, in accordance with regulations set out for such development in a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Cummins said the BTC appealed the decision and that appeal was heard by a panel selected by the Prime Minister’s Office. (GC)
