IT is official.
Brathwaite Construction/Crane Resort St Catherine are the kings of domestic cricket in this country, with their capture of the BCA Elite division three-day competition now confirmed.
The decision was announced in a press release yesterday after a protest by Massy Stores Spartan in a no-decision against Police in which not a ball was bowled because of wet conditions in their ninth and last-round match at Weymouth on November 12, 19 and 20, was unanimously dismissed by a BCA Complaints and Disputes Committee at a meeting on Tuesday evening.
“The Complaints and Disputes Committee of the Barbados Cricket Association, hereafter referred to as the ‘committee’, met on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, to deliberate on a protest lodged by The Spartan Cricket Club against The Police Club emanating from the BCA Elite series 9 match played at Weymouth.
“The committee after due consideration, unanimously found no merit in and accordingly dismissed the complaint made by Spartan.
“The points earned by the respective teams for the no-decision in the said match (November 12, 19 20, 2016) will therefore remain,” the release said.
Both Spartan and the relegated Police were awarded one point for the match, but Spartan, one of four teams in line to grab the title going into the final round, were adamant that no effort was made by the home team to get the ground in shape for play. (MK)
