GISELA NICHOLSON became emotional and could say little as Government and the administration of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) paid tribute to her late husband.
During a ceremony yesterday morning, the QEH Artificial Kidney Unit was renamed in honour of Professor George Nicholson, who has been credited with establishing the first renal clinic at the QEH and was a director of the Haemodialysis Unit.
He was also a founding member of the Barbados Kidney Association and the Caribbean Association of Urologists and Nephrologists.
“It’s a very, very proud moment to celebrate this,” the eldest daughter, Lena, said later. “Legends to legacy, I think this encompasses that and I’m very grateful, very thankful to everyone who has been a part of this.” (WILLCOMM)
