SOME MEMBERS of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) ditched Parliament yesterday to get a first-hand look at the plight of residents of White Hill, St Andrew.
At the end of the muddy, treacherous trek from one side to the other, across the broken path that was once the road which ran through the rural district, Opposition Leader Mia Mottley decried the ‘two Barbadoses” which seem to be emerging but urged the residents to hold strain until the BLP took the reins of power.
“I am saying to them, hold tight, help is on the way because we are going to make sure that you are not ignored and you are not part of syndrome of two Barbadoses.”
Flanked by Member of Parliament for the constituency, George Payne, as well as by MP for St Thomas, Cynthia Forde; former Minister of Transport and Works Gline Clarke, who represents St George North, and the St George South representative Dwight Sutherland and surrounded by residents, Mottley said should the remaining piece break away, the residents of White Hill would “truly, truly be marooned”. But gabions, she said, would prevent such a catastrophe. (HLE)
