ANTOINETTE DOWNIE wanted to crack the top ten of the New York Pro and got her wish over the weekend, placing seventh in a high-class International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) women’s physique field in Teaneck, New Jersey.

It was an impressive showing from the 37-year-old Barbadian nurse, who was making her first appearance in a New York Pro event.

Downie featured in the third call-out and was also named in the fifth call-out of a tough competition that attracted 21 girls.

The girl from Carrington Village told NATIONSPORT she made improvements to her quads, hamstrings and chest. It is the fourth time she has cracked the top ten in an IFBB pro contest.

In 2014 on her pro debut, she cracked the top ten in Phoenix, Arizona and last June in back-to-back weeks she placed fourth in Puerto Rico and fourth at the Toronto SuperShow. (MK)
