Four charged with $75 000 in credit card fraud

A BARBADIAN WOMAN and three male British nationals have been charged with roughly $75 000 in credit card fraud.

Melissa Latoya Cumberbatch, 30 years of Baycroft Road, Carrington Village, St Michael, has been charged along with Michael Akinwale Akingbade, 33;  Joseph Adedapo King, 30 and 19-year-old Mukhtar Mohamed Muctar Abbasheikh.

Cumberbatch was charged with nine counts of Criminal deception and one count of Attempted Criminal deception.

Akingbade was charged with eight counts of Criminal deception and one count of Attempted Criminal deception.

King and Abbasheikh were charged jointly with nine counts of Criminal deception and one count of Attempted Criminal deception. Abbasheikh received additional charges of possession of cannabis and going equipped.

According to Police, investigations reveal a group of people were using “fraudulent credit card transactions” to obtain items such as jewellery, perfume and electronic equipment from luxury stores.

The incidents occurred around February 3 and 4.

The four are scheduled to appear at the Holetown Magistrates Court on Friday. (PR/SAT)
