THE NATION PUBLISHING COMPANY LIMITED has launched an online fund for the children of the Taitt family.
The online fundraising campaign, which was opened from yesterday, is in response to the plea of the children’s father, Alvin Taitt. In September 2015, he rescued his three children then aged 14, 13 and ten from an environment of on-going abuse which they were forced to endure for many years.
In an article published in the Sunday Sun, Taitt appealed for financial assistance to formally acquire British citizenship for the three children, noting that it will cost him approximately $10 000BDS (£3 500) to start the process.
Using the crowdfunding site Pitchandchoose.com, The Nation Publishing has set up a donation page, under the title “Help Child Abuse Victims- The Taitt Family”. This allows locals and Barbadians living abroad to make donations, small or large, via credit card.
The campaign is open until the end of March 2016 and has a target of US$20 000. Interested persons can visit the page, choose the campaign and then hit the “support campaign “button. Since its launch yesterday, just over US$1000 dollars have already been pledged.
This site is dedicated solely to Caribbean based causes and the public can be ensured that the Taitt family will receive the funds donated.
The Nation Publishing will also coordinate with the family to set up a local bank account, which will allow local residents to make a cash donation. (PR)
