Champs one away from retaining title

CHRIST CHURCH EAST CENTRAL are on course to keep the David Thompson Memorial Constituency Councils’ Football Classic title.

The defending champions edged a spirited St George South unit 1-0 on Saturday night at the Friendship Playing Field to book a place in Sunday’s final.

In the earlier semi-final, St Michael Central blanked St Michael South 3-0 with a calculated and strategic brand of football.

Christ Church East Central dominated against their opponents with an array of talent that included the tournament’s leading goalscorer Jabarry “Papi” Chandler and last tournament’s Most Valuable Player Darian King.

King and Chandler combined for Christ Church East Central’s lone goal in the 39th minute. 

King made a fantastic run behind the defence.
