PROMOTER AL GILKES wants clarity from Government on the proposed amendment to the Value Added Tax (VAT) Act to ensure better collection of taxes on entertainment events.
Gilkes, managing director of FAS Promotions Inc., in referring to an article on the matter published in the November 27 WEEKEND NATION, said the amendments were unclear.
He said the stipulation a $10 000 fine or two years’ imprisonment for the promoters who contravened the act “does not make sense”.
He also said one of the proposals also suggested that promoters were involved in scalping, an implication which he denied. (TSG)
