TVET Council increasing fees for courses

MEMBERS OF THE public have been advised that some of the training and assessment courses offered by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council have undergone a price increase.

These increases commence on Friday, January 1, 2016, and include the courses Qualification Approval, National/Caribbean Vocational Qualifications Levels 1 and 2, and National/Caribbean Vocational Qualifications Levels 3, 4 and 5.  The Council’s Train-the-Trainer, Assessor Training and External Verifier Training Services will also be increased.

The Council’s executive director, Henderson Eastmond, explained that while the Council will continue to heavily subsidise the costs associated with its many developmental activities, the new fee structure will allow it to better manage the growth of the technical assistance and support programme.

“Our reality is that implementing cost recovery which is more in line with actual inputs is a necessary requirement to make our operations sustainable and allow many more Barbadians to obtain the benefits of a reformed TVET system,” he stated.

As part of the review, the Council has developed a number of policies and procedures that have also been made available on the Council’s website. The documents include a customer service charter, service delivery times and quality standards, and complaints procedures guidelines.

Persons may access the full list of products and services, along with the TVET Council’s revised fees, by visiting the website www.tvetcouncil.com.bb(BGIS)
