Dear Christine,
I am really hoping you can help me. I am from Guyana but have been living in Barbados for just over 18 years.
Allow me to tell you a little about my circumstances. My family forced me to start work before I was ten years old. However, I was able to go back to school for four years after working, but was still unable to complete high school, because my older sister died, leaving three children aged three years, four years and six months old. I had to take care of these children.
To make a long story short, I am in need of help and I am writing to ask you if you can get anyone to assist me. I have not been diagnosed with cancer, but I am having several complaints and my doctor suggested since February 2, that I have a barium enema test done. To date I am still unable to come up with the money because I am not working. The cost is $370 at the Diagnostic Radiology Services. I have sought help from my friends but I was unsuccessful.
I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) in 2009 and the doctor told me they saw three spots on my left ovary. A later test revealed five spots. Besides that, I am experiencing irregular periods (sometimes heavy, sometimes none at all for months), severe hair loss, blood in stool, weight gain and weight loss as well. Sometimes I feel very weak, but I am determined to get my health back on track. I pray and hope that you will be able to help me.
Right now, I am still feeling strong enough to go about my daily house chores and I continue to send out job applications. I would really appreciate it if you can help me so I can raise enough funds to do this test or also see a specialist. Can you please help? It would mean a lot to me to get my health back on track.
I anticipate your favourable response.

Dear S.A.,
I am very sorry to hear about your plight and I am printing your letter to see if anyone or organisation can assist you in any way. I have your contacts and will be getting my assistant to reach you shortly.
Meanwhile, hang in there.
