PREDICTABLY, DARIAN KING wasted little effort in wining his Davis Cup singles match against Ecuador’s Ivan Endara in steaming conditions yesterday at the National Tennis Centre in Wildey.
King won 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 to give Barbados a 1-0 lead in their Davis Cup Americas Zone Group I tennis tie in front of a large supportive crowd.
But Barbados’ No. 2 Haydn Lewis lost to Emilio Gomez in straight sets 6-1, 7-6, 6-4, leaving the tie locked at 1-1 ahead of today’s doubles starting at noon.
King told reporters that he just went out there with a plan and stuck with it. (PG)
