TRISTAN EVELYN today advanced to the semi-finals of the girls’ 100-metre dash at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Cali, Colombia.
Evelyn won heat three in an impressive 11.57 seconds while Israel’s Diana Vaisman was second in 11.83 seconds. New Zealand’s Georgia Hulls was third in 11.85 seconds.
Evelyn was the third fastest qualifier while Trinidad and Tobago’s Khalifa St Fort produced the day’s fastest qualifying time of 11.39 seconds. The second fastest qualifier was Candace Hall of the United States who clocked 11.47 seconds.
Those semi-finals are scheduled to run today around 7:10 p.m.
Rivaldo Leacock is scheduled to compete tonight in the semi-finals of the boys’ 400-metre hurdles. Leacock will be running out of lane four in the first of three semi-finals. In the first round, he did 51.35 seconds, third overall. (PG)
