Four earthquakes hit region

A TOTAL OF four earthquakes were recorded in the region this morning with three occurring within the space of 20 minutes.

The latest was a magnitude 5.3 quake which occurred at 11:36 a.m.

This quake was 139 kilometres northeast of Bridgetown, 261 kilometres east of Castries, St Lucia and 283 kilometres east southeast of Fort-de-France, Martinique.

Meanwhile, a magnitude 4.1 quake was recorded around 11:29 a.m. This was located on Latitude: 13.86N and Longitude: 58.99W, also at a depth of ten kilometres.

The two earlier quakes which were felt in Barbados occurred at 11:16 a.m. and 7:01 a.m.

There have been no reports of injury or damage. (NB)
