Jordan to Govt: Divest some assets

PARTNER of PriceWaterhouse Coopers, Oliver Jordan, has suggested Government divest itself of entities such as the Barbados Hilton and hotel properties in the GEMS project.

This was among the ideas he shared with local hoteliers on alternative ways of seeking long-term financing yesterday. The former banker said commercial banks in Barbados seemed less willing to provide long-term financing to the sector at attractive rates.

Jordan listed share issues, strategic divestment and private equity funds as alternative approaches for the hotel sector to access long-term financing.
