One year after proposing an extensive group medical plan, the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) is finally going forward with a policy that will fully cover all athletes and officials affiliated with the organization.
Operations manager Glyne Clarke revealed that the Sagicor plan would come on stream by monthend after securing commitments from three national associations to join the group policy in a meeting on Wednesday night with several sporting federations.
“We got positive responses from both netball and football, while basketball had already paid up from last year, so we’re definitely going to set up the plan with whatever numbers we have right now,” Clarke said in an interview with WEEKENDSPORT yesterday.
“Hopefully, the other associations will come on board as the year goes on because they’ve all acknowledged that this is an excellent plan and is something that local sports have needed for a long time.
