Was pot sweetened?

AS SOME PEOPLE keep hyping a certain deal, others are now asking if sweeteners were added to get the big man to bite.
Those asking are saying that the original deal was really not ideal for the host, but they committed themselves to it because they needed something to show.
That deal involved them buying a property for what some experts argued was an inflated price, tearing down what is on the spot, then borrowing a princely sum to build something new to the specifications of the big man who had agreed to lease the property for a number of years.
It was not the best of arrangements, but at least it gave these people something to cheer about and point to as something positive.
As this arrangement was revealed after the same big man was given the most welcoming of handshakes ever extended, those critical of the deal condemned it further, likening it to a strong beast preying on a weak animal.
Then, suddenly, the big man announced that he was no longer interested in leasing. He wanted to buy.
In other words, the strong beast was no longer willing to gobble up the weak animal that lay before him. Why?
Was something else gifted to this big man that was so irresistible he decided to spend his own money and allow us to keep our yuans? And, if that is the case, what is it?
People in the industry can’t figure this one out and are calling on those hailing the deal to set the record straight. Was more added to the already generous concessions, and if it was, what’s the value?

Suddenly silent
BUSINESS PEOPLE, media personnel and a few politicos were left stunned by the antics of a usually verbose member of the political class last week.
The individual, who has always been portrayed as fearless, appeared to be quite the opposite on the day in particular.
A person who was on the spot related that a politico, who seems to be striving for an already filled position, heard the voice of this individual next door to where he was touring a certain facility. So he asked someone to call his colleague.
However, when the individual came and saw the gathering, he just beat a hasty retreat without saying a word.
Those assembled were in shock that a man of his stoutness and stature would distance himself so fast from waiting microphones.
It was crystal clear he wasn’t in a mood to talk.

An indecent proposal
THE TOUGH ECONOMIC times are bringing out the worst in some people, Cou Cou has been informed.
According to what we are being told, some people in positions of authority have been seeking to take advantage of others’ plight by demanding “something” in advance to help facilitate the request.
One woman, whose spouse lost his pick, reported to Cou Cou that she was asked a certain indecent question when she went to the man in position to secure a particular document.
The woman said she would do what was suggested to her only with somebody she cared about, but would never do such a thing to get something that should be given to her as long as she met the criteria as a citizen of Barbados.
Cou Cou applauds this woman.
We cry shame, too, on all those officials who seek to take advantage of people’s misery.
God not sleeping; don’t do that!
