Parents urged not to give false addresses

THE NUMBER of parents falsifying addresses to get their children into the “best” of the three school zones is still of concern to the Ministry of Education.

And though Senior Education Officer Glyne Price told WEEKEND NATION that there was not much the ministry could do to crack down on the trend he has asked parents to desist from the practice.

Speaking after the first in the series of town hall meetings at the St Bartholomew Primary School in Parish Land, Christ Church, on Wednesday evening to sensitise parents about preparations for the 2015 Common Entrance Examination, Price stressed that the ministry would not be running around behind parents policing or proofing their true places of residence.

“It is wrong and if parents want to falsify their address then so be it. I don’t think the ministry should be asked to go and police the integrity of parents. We will find out eventually when we send correspondence and it is returned; but by then what can you do about it because the children are already allocated, so it is just a matter of honesty,” he said.  (SDB Media)
