BARBADOS ARE NOW just one win away from yet another historic victory.

The country’s best tennis players have taken an all-important 2-1 lead over the Dominican Republic in the Davis Cup heading into tomorrow’s reverse singles, following a dominant doubles performance at the National Tennis Centre.

Backed by a bouyant home crowd, the dynamic duo of Darian King and Haydn Lewis made light work of Victor Estrella and Jose Hernandez in a demoralising 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 straight sets thumping that lasted a mere hour and a half.

King, ranked 291, has a chance to wrap up the tie against the world No. 56 Estrella tomorrow morning before Lewis is slated to face Hernandez in the final rubber. (JM)

The Dominican Republic pair of Victor Estrella and Jose Hernandez appeals a call.
