THE JUNIORS of calypso made another step to stardom this morning when they pulled numbers to decide their positions for the upcoming finals of the Scotiabank Junior Calypso Monarch in association with IGM Lighting.
When the draw was made today at Scotiabank Haggatt Hall, St Michael, defending eight to 12 monarch Ranaan Hackett picked No. 5. Sammy G will have a chance see everyone’s performance before she defends her title in the 13 to 18 age group, as she will be last up.
Those in 8 to 12 in order of appearance are Dynamo, A@lee-aah, Starburst, Sarai, Ranaan Hackett, Brown Star, Ke Ke Boo, Liana and Star Diamond. Trezelle Alleyne (J’Tanya) is reserve.
Here are the names in 13 to 18 category in order of appearance: Nubian Queen, Raheem, Ah De-Lah, Lady Tii, Sparkle T, De Overcomer, Quinn P, RJ and Sammy G. The reserve is Ranesha Cummins (Confetti).
The finals are scheduled for the Gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex on July 18. (JS)
