Fetes sold out despite tough economic times

AS BARBADOS wrestles with one the harshest economic periods in its post-Independence history, some Crop Over parties are already sold out ahead of this week’s last lap of fetes and parties.

Feters are paying sometimes more than $200 to attend premium all-inclusive parties, and close to $100 for entry alone.

And the demand remains high.

In fact, one of the organisers of Wednesday’s sold-out Fyah D Wuk fete, Neesha Rodney, told the SUNDAY SUN that the response to the event was “overwhelming” and “much better than last year”.

She confirmed reports of a large line at Wine World, Rockley, Christ Church yesterday morning, the final collection location and day for the event. The location is yet to be disclosed. Rodney did not say how many tickets were up for grabs. (Green Bananas Media)
