THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY is coming to the aid of Dominicans with the British, Americans and United Nations sending teams, supplies and money to the devastated island.
In statements issued yesterday, the United States Embassy said the United States Agency for International Development, through its Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance, was providing disaster relief support.
The Americans said they were in the process of providing humanitarian assistance totalling $100 000 for the immediate supply of storm-related disaster relief supplies.
The British, on the other hand, have sent the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Lyme Bay, and the British Department for International Development has provided almost $1 million (£300 000) in humanitarian aid.
