Molasses dumping ‘not a threat’

OWNER of MOUNT Wilton Plantation, Anthony Nicholls, is dismissing concerns that molasses being dumped on his land is a threat to Harrison’s Cave.

This follows inquiries by Member of Parliament for St Thomas, Cynthia Forde, who lambasted the dumping of molasses on the St Thomas farm yesterday.

“I am extremely concerned because it has a terrible odour emanating from it and the volume of molasses that they are putting in that area is so tremendous, and for me that’s in the zone of Harrison’s Cave,” Forde said

In a telephone interview with DAILY NATION, she said since some homes in that zone could not be equipped with water toilets and that some farms were unable to house livestock like pigs due to its proximity to “the eighth wonder of the world”, the molasses should not be dumped at the spot.
