PRIME MINISTER FREUNDEL STUART challenged Barbadians to answer three questions to determine where we want to take the nation of Barbados over the next 50 years.

He was speaking at the launch of official celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Independence in Independence Square, The City today.

The Prime Minister said these activities were not only to celebrate what we have achieved and threw out three questions for everyone to answer:

–          What features of Barbadian life have we lost that we need to reclaim?

–          What features of Barbadian life have we not lost that we need to retain?

–          What features of Barbadian life we have not lost that we need to discard as quickly as possible?

During his address, Stuart also lauded Barbadians for their resilience and strength of character. He said the island had weathered the storm from recessions in 1973, 1980, 1991 and now from 2007.

The Prime Minister said we have been able to keep society calm and are preparing to mark a major milestone.
