Three titles for NAPSAC champions

BAYLEY’S PRIMARY and Charles F. Broome each won their third titles as the curtain came down on the 2017 Pine Hill National Primary Schools’ Athletics Championships.

Today at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex, Bayley’s led from pole to pole, finishing with 147 points, followed by Wesley Hall (74), St Cyprian’s (67), West Terrace (58) and Eden Lodge on 57.

With 127.5 points, Charles F. Broome pulled away from St Giles (115) and defending champions Williams Industries West Terrace (70) during the relays. Wesley Hall and Christ Church Girls’ rounded out the top five with 50 and 49 points, respectively.

Bayley’s won the first ever boys’ NAPSAC title in 2002 and again in 2011.

Charles F. Broome previously won the girls’ title in 2008 and 2015.

Four records fell on the day, two in the field.

They were set by Dominic Duncan of Bayley’s with 1.78 metres in the Under-7 boys’ standing broad jump and Hilda Skeene’s Asabi Callender with a throw measuring 54.84 metres in the Under-13 girls’ cricket ball.

On the track, Charles F. Broome raced to a new record of 1 minute 03.12 seconds in the Under-9 Girls’ 4×100 metres and the quartet from Wesley Hall set a new mark of 55.38 seconds in the Under-11 boys’ race.
