The Barbados Revenue Authority advises taxpayers that Friday, October 27 is the final day to take advantage of the ten per cent discount on 2017-18 Land Tax Bills paid in full.
Carolyn Williams-Gayle, manager communications and public relations with the Authority, is urging taxpayers to utilise some of the other options available for payment.
“During the last few days leading up to deadlines more people come in to pay. However, instead of getting in line, taxpayers can use the drop boxes available at all of our payment locations except the Pine to submit payments for VAT, Land Tax, PAYE and Corporation Tax. They just need to attach the cheque to the billing or filing document and drop it in the box,” she explained.
“They also have the option of paying Land Tax online using EZPay. This requires taxpayers registering for this service on www.ezpay.gov.bb or through the government portal at www.gov.bb .”
Williams-Gayle shared that during the course of the month there was a steady stream of persons coming in to pay.
“There has been an increase in foot traffic into our payment sections throughout this month as taxpayers have been coming in to take advantage of the discount. This Monday was also the VAT deadline date so there was a spike in the number of taxpayers at our locations,” she noted.
Additionally, she is asking persons who have not yet received their Land Tax Bills to update their records at any of the Authority’s three customer service locations at the Holetown, Treasury Building or the Weymouth Corporate Centre, as outdated mailing addresses could be the cause.
Land tax payments may be made at the Authority’s Treasury Building; Weymouth Corporate Centre; Warrens Tower II, Holetown and Southern Plaza locations. Payment hours for the Treasury and Holetown are Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Weymouth location will also be operating from 7:30 a.m. until October 27 while the opening hours for the other locations are from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (PR)
