Man charged with assaulting Commissioner

Police have arrested and charged a 39-year-old St Lucy man for a number of offences, which were allegedly committed against the Commissioner of Police Tyrone Griffith, on Saturday, October 28, at Crab Hill, St Lucy.

He is Dewayne Carlo Griffith, of Crab Hill, St Lucy. He was charged with obstructing police in the execution of duty, assaulting police in the execution of duty and resisting police in the execution of duty.

On Saturday, the Commissioner of Police had the occasion to speak to a man in relation to an infraction being committed. In the process of speaking to this man, Griffith intervened, obstructing the Commissioner in the execution of his duty. Griffith subsequently assaulted, and resisted arrest in the process of the investigations.

Griffith appeared before Magistrate Ian Weekes in the District ‘D’ Court on today, and was remanded to prison. He will reappear in the Holetown Court on the November 9. (PR)
