BARBADIAN ENTREPRENEURS anxious to get “a little piece of the cheese” offered by the renewable energy sector are starving because Government has failed to enact the necessary regulations as promised, says Ralph “Bizzy” Williams.
Saying that he and “many others” were anxious to increase their investments in projects using solar and wind energy, the outspoken businessman yesterday lamented that “the world is galloping ahead” and leaving Barbados behind.
He also asserted that the Canadian-owned Barbados Light & Power Company “has managed to scare the Government and the Fair Trading Commission into believing that if they allow us to start generating significant amounts of energy from the sun and the wind that it’s going to destabilise the grid, it’s going to cause blackouts, brownouts, all kinds of things”.
