On Wednesday, the BTI Fort Willoughby Car Park was transformed into The Music Factory, and it turned out to be the place where banger after banger and pleased patron after pleased patron were being manufactured.
It was an ode that temporarily bade farewell to the blazing dancehall, reggae, soca, hip hop and R&B indoor club settings, in exchange for an outdoor setting, with pop and electronic dance music predominately piercing the air.
The one day festival saw some 20 local and international DJs, including our very own DJ Chilly, Skratchmaster and DJ Puffy as well as those associated with the renowned Ministry of Sound, such as Patrick Hagenaar, all had the opportunity to give the crowd what they so eagerly wanted: a great time, and that is exactly what most of them did.
House music, trance, drum and bass, pop, and dubstep were the weapons of choice for the DJs and those in attendance had no issues with being fired upon. With two stages: the main stage and the rave stage, it meant that there were technically two parties simultaneously going on.
As a result, the biggest fear of the night was that going to one of the energetic stages would mean leaving one of the energetic stages. The quality of the DJs as well as the quality of the production was A-class.
From the music, and ease of access to everything including drinks and eats, right back down to the $50 that many had to part with in exchange for an invaluable experience.
The event was a platinum experience, with no major disturbances for the night; the biggest being the occasional toe-mash from overeager jumpers with no sense of direction, to which an apologetic hand gesture was enough for the party to continue.
The entire package was a great one and the organizers Illusion Entertainment, must be commended for a job well done, taking the initiative to give the growing electronic dance music fan base in Barbados, the opportunity to enjoy themselves listening to what they enjoy, if only for the night.
