BARBADOS’ CIVIL AVIATION DEPARTMENT is getting a new $10.9 million headquarters.
Minister of Tourism and International Transport Richard Sealy turned the sod today to mark the start of construction of the headquarters in Charnocks, Christ Church, close to the Grantley Adams International Airport.
Sealy said the department would share the building, which is expected to be completed in 14 months, with the Meteorological Department and the Air Transport Licensing Authority.
He told the gathering that these agencies had been operating in a building which was in a state of disrepair and which over the years had presented a number of safety, security and environmental challenges for the staff. (TY)
