MORE THAN 300 children of local inmates will have something to smile about this Christmas thanks to corporate Barbados.
During a presentation to the Prison Fellowship’s Angel Tree programme at Scotiabank, Rockley, Christ Church today, branch manager Andrea Harewood said as an organisation, they were pleased to make the donation for an 11th time.
In her remarks, she explained Scotiabank treated the donation as an important tradition, with Christmas exactly one week away.
Brother Thomas Watts, who is head of the Prison Fellowship, told Nation Online the gifts will be shared not only with the children of those who are incarcerated, but also the underprivileged in different communities.Â
Watts added when a crime is committed the person must be put behind bars. However, he said, everyone deserves to be treated equally because all have committed crimes at different levels. Â (MR)
