New guard

OBJECTIONS OVER the late receipt of annual reports and statement of accounts have forced the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) into taking new guard.

The island’s governing body for cricket was forced to adjourn its 81st annual general meeting until August 20 after members voiced concerns about the untimely distribution of reports when the meeting was convened on Thursday evening at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

As a result, the 13th special meeting of members to elect a president, among other officers, has been postponed by three weeks and will now take place on August 27.

While the BCA was able to raise a quorum to proceed with the annual general meeting, sources at the meeting told the Saturday Sun there were early complaints over if it would be meaningful to continue with the proceedings against the background that the majority of the 2 000-odd members received their annual reports a day or two before the meeting.
