PEOPLE IN BARBADOS are in pain, and Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler needs to ease some of the pressure.

Former Prime Minister Owen Arthur contends that he drew to the minister’s attention that the very report he drew upon for his Budget in which the International Monetary Fund (IMF) recommended the removal of allowances, also recommended that the Government increase the reverse tax credit.

However, the minister chose “to inflict the pain but did not bring the balm”, he said.

“I believe the Government can start building back confidence, and take some of the anger out of the legitimate protests out there by balancing things. You cannot just inflict pain.
