Wanderers through to T20 semis

COUNTERPOINT WANDERERS, set up by an enterprising knock of 60 from Kirk Edwards, have sealed a spot in the semi-finals of the Sagicor General Twenty20 cricket championship.

They will oppose ESA Field Pickwick on July 1 and the day before, LIME will take on Sagicor UWI.

In the last quarter-final Saturday night at Kensington Oval, last year’s losing finalists Wanderers easily defeated two-time champions Maple by 33 runs.

Needing 149 to win, Maple fell for 114 in 17.4 overs. Captain Renaldo Parris was forced to retire hurt on nought. He suffered a bruise above the right eye from a quick bouncer in the fifth over from South African Fanie de Villiers and was unable to resume his innings.
