KEY TALKS AIMED at maintaining industrial harmony in Barbados will continue today over issues relating to the Barbados Light & Power Co. Ltd (BL&P) and the recently created Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA).

The Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) will be meeting this morning with BL&P officials, with the two sides at odds about the “involuntary separation” layoffs the power company wants to institute.

Well-placed sources indicated that between 30 and 50 workers might be going in this phase of the cutbacks, with the union opposed to any further layoffs.
